Sew & Quilt With Katie - Katie Bock - 01-31-2026 Good Evening to all! I know it's definitely been a while as for the second half of 2025 I was so busy I didn't get a chance to post often on the QATW Forum. Last summer was an absolute blast. For the first time ever, I got to take part in our annual sailing regatta in June. Since 2014, and up till last year minus the years of the pandemic, I've only participated in the Roy Harding Memorial Cup held in May on the Running Tide. Originally, I had planned on being a part of the crew of the Running Tide which is one of my favorite A class boats, but due to the windy weather we had and them having enough crew, I didn't sail on that boat, but I did get the opportunity to be a part of the crew of the Good News which is an A class boat from Ragged Island. Even though we didn't win, (it wasn't our year) I had so much fun and can't wait to be a part of the crew of that boat again in June of this year. Though this year I will be also sailing in E, and C class as well with a few friends of mine. Early last week, I completely finished my first quilt for 2026. It was actually a project that my mom and I were working on together. The quilt is a Stained - Glass Tulip from a pattern my mom had from many years ago. The entire quilting is a combination of ruler work, free motion fillers / quilting that I did with my longarm on the quilt frame. Then after that work was completed, I did the satin stitching around the pieces using my domestic sewing machine. We are both thrilled with the way the quilt turned out and enjoy working on projects together when we get the chance to. As a matter of fact, in the coming days, we will be working on another project together. Can't wait for sure. This weekend, I will be working on hand sewing the last block together and finishing off the Christmas Crazy Quilt Wallhanging, then adding the borders to another quilt top I've been working on. Happy Quilting. Hugs Katie RE: Sew & Quilt With Katie - quiltertess - 01-31-2026 Thanks for checking in Katie, and letting us know what you have been up to! Both of my girls attended sailing camp when they were in girl scouts - many years ago - actually my niece was one of the counselors who taught them. My oldest, Kate, still sails when she has the time. I attended a mom and daughter sailing camp one year too and had a blast, although, sadly I haven't done much sailing since then. Your tulip quilt is beautiful! RE: Sew & Quilt With Katie - mistycows - 02-02-2026 Oh wow that sounds like a great experience and so glad you already have plans to do it again in June! Congratulations on already having a finish in 2026, and I love that you and your mom work on projects together! |
