Tess's musings - quiltertess - 01-24-2026

Hello and welcome to my new blog.

Hopefully this website is going to work for everyone.  Chelle and I are working diligently to get it up and running.

Just waiting for the predicted snow storm to hit us later today.  Glad I don't have to go out any time soon.

I spent part of yesterday sewing up a Valentine's Day panel that I picked up at a new store in Baltimore last week.  Its actually a new location for a store that has been around for a while - so now there are 2 locations.  I went there looking for some lining fabric to fix the sleeves in an old cashmere coat.  The coat is in pretty good shape, but the lining in the sleeves was not.  I ended up finding a different store that still carries apparel fabric and bought the lining there.  I really do miss JoAnn's.............

Still working on the new stocking, but I am getting closer to the end.  This one will not take nearly as long as the ones I did last year.  I also have to finish stitching down the binding on the Exploding Heart quilt - I also have to make a label for it.

Sounds good Tess!

We have had temps in the tens and teens for the last week or so. The yards are covered in ice - its funny watching Daisy attempt to walk across it. Pugsley won't even try.

Its been a very lazy week here. I think that SAD has definitely had a hold on me this week.

Had to take Daisy to the vet for testing - Vet thinks she has Cushing's Disease and this is follow up testing to see if the medication she is on is working.

Still working on the binding for the heart quilt - I still need to make the label - I guess I should add that to my to do list for today.

Still working on the cross stitch stocking too. Getting closer to the end...

Vet says Daisy is doing well and we are good to go for 6 more months. YAY!

Still working on sewing the binding on the heart quilt - haven't been working on it the last couple of days, and I still need to make the label.

Trying to decide what to work on next. Do I find some ufos? or start a new project? Waiting for the new St. Patty's day panel to come, but I guess I could start on the blocks that will surround it.

I hope everyone is staying warm and snug - its been really cold here, with temps in the tens and twenties, with wind chills in the minus numbers..........

I finally made the label for the heart quilt. I also started back working on a scrappy quilt - 2 inch and 1 1/2 inch squares - one of those "insane" quilts, but I will get to use up a lot of scraps. I'm going to have to get a bolt of white for the sashing though, so there goes my "no buy" for this month. It feels good to have something quilty to work on again.

I went to see an orthopedic doctor about the pain in my hip. Turns out it's not really in my hip - I have bursitis. It really only hurts after I've been sitting for a while and then get up. Going to see a physical therapist today. We are going to try that to see if it helps before we try anything else. I also have a slipped disc in my lower back, but it is not currently causing any problems. Now I understand why I can't stand for long periods of time any more.

We've had a bit of a warm up here - temps in the 40's yesterday and supposed to be in the forties again today. Hopefully will start to melt some of this "snowcrete" we have.
